• The annual Green Chile Festival kicked off at Chuy’s (four locations around town) earlier this week with a timely campaign theme. The menus feature established incumbents (green-chile stew, Mexi-Cobb Salad), as well as seasonal challengers (green-chile pork tostadas, Charlie Brown Chicken, the Wild Burrito), plus a new classic mojito to cool the burn. Buy campaign paraphernalia such as T-shirts, bumper stickers, party buttons, green-chile seed packets, and roasted chiles. Now through Sunday, Sept. 12.
• 34th Street Cafe (1005 W. 34th, 371-3400, www.34thstreetcafe.com) becomes Lounge 34 again this weekend with a definite Moroccan twist. Chef Raif will serve up Moroccan delicacies, and the bar will feature special drinks, all to the exotic musical stylings of DJ Blake. $22 per person, $38 per couple. • Austin’s historic 122-year-old Driskill Hotel (Sixth & Brazos, www.driskillhotel.com) celebrates its most recent renovation with an open house this weekend. A Taste of the Driskill will offer live music, wine and food tastings from both the Driskill Grill and the 1886 Cafe & Bakery, children’s activities, ghost tours, the announcement of the Pie Bake-Off contest winner, a UT tailgate party in the hotel bar, and exhibits such as the “Driskill Love Stories.” Saturday, Aug. 30, 10am-2pm.
