• Students and chef instructors at the Texas Culinary Academy (11400 Burnet Rd., 837-2665) invite you to join them for the second annual Mediterranean Festival. Events will include wine seminars; expert cooking demonstrations of traditional foods such as tagines, tapas, and meze; a tasting symposium featuring samples of Mediterranean foods and condiments; as well as a full schedule of hands-on classes for both adults and children. • The important foodie component at the Maker Faire (www.makerfaire.com) at the Travis County Expo Center (7311 Decker) will be the Edible Austin Food Maker Pavilion. This area will showcase local artisan food makers and farmers, featuring cooking demonstrations and samples of local food products. Tickets are available online and at the Austin Children’s Museum. Saturday, Oct. 20, 10am-6pm; Sunday, Oct. 21, 10am-5pm.

• The folks at Flipnotics Coffeespace Cafe & Clothespad invite you to celebrate 15 years of good coffee and Austin music at their free Anniversoiree. They’ll have great live music, games for kids and adults, food, beer, and wine at the Triangle Park (4600 Guadalupe). Sunday, Oct. 21, noon-8:30pm.

• Zax Pints & Plates (312 Barton Springs Rd., 481-0100, www.zaxaustin.com) celebrates Texas Wine Month with a tasting of various Texas wines paired with a chef’s selection of appetizers; $45 plus tax, reservations suggested. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 6pm.

• The Alamo Drafthouse South (1120 S. Lamar) has dreamed up yet another classic movie feast. How about eating every kind of bird imaginable paired with wine while watching the Alfred Hitchcock thriller The Birds? The movie and feast will run you $60. • Enjoy the Culinary Flavors of Austin at the Hilton Austin (500 E. Fourth) to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Sample signature dishes from 15 of Austin’s finest restaurants paired with wines from Texas vineyards; $60 tickets are available at 338-1744. Thursday, Oct. 25, 6-9pm.
