Texas Wine Month winds up with a barrelful of events over the next few days. Sign up now for the Romp After the Stomp, a chartered winery tour from Mitch Lindsay of Texas Grape & Green Tours (365-8380; www.texaswinerytours.com). The bus will depart from Central Market North and travel to Texas Hills Vineyards and the Fredericksburg Food & Wine Fest with onboard tasting seminars featuring food and cheese pairings provided by CM chef Larry Guilbeau. Tickets must be purchased in advance, are $40 per person, and include one bottle of wine per couple. Tickets to the Fredericksburg event are $20 at the gate; 9:30am-7pm, Saturday, Oct. 28.

Congregation Agudas Achim invites Austin chili aficionados to spend an afternoon of family fun at their second annual Kosher Chili Cook-Off at the Dell Jewish Community Center (7300 Hart Ln.). Sample chilies prepared by the various four-person teams while enjoying food and drinks, live music, and kids’ activities. Hudson’s on the Bend (3509 RR 620 N., 266-1369) has a very enthusiastic new wine guy named Phillip Dubov. He has added some new wines to the Hudson’s list and also encourages patrons to attend a new series of wine dinners he has put together with chef Robert Rhoades. They’ll feature Silver Oak wines on Oct. 31, Texas wines on Nov. 7, and Avant Garde wines on Nov. 14. Reservations are necessary; look for menus and prices at www.hudsonsonthebend.com.
