Refugee Services of Texas is throwing a Louisiana Jazz Brunch at Jazz (212 E. Sixth, 479-0474) to commemorate Hurricane Katrina and raise money for direct services to their diverse clientele. The food, drinks, and live musical entertainment are all free, but donations are encouraged. Guests can also purchase copies of the new RST cookbook ($20) with recipes from all around the globe; 11am-2pm, Sunday, Aug. 27.

The Sustainable Food Center will hold their first (and hopefully annual) Back to School Healthy Food Fair at the Downtown Farmers’ Market (Fourth & Guadalupe) this weekend with live music, gardening, and interactive cooking demonstrations; 9am-1pm, Saturday, Aug. 26.
