Chita-Rita & the Chimp’s

4919 Hudson Bend Rd., 266-6919

Mon-Fri, 11am-2am; Sat-Sun, 2pm-2am

What would you call a popular neighborhood place that had failed as Chatters, the Hideaway, Joey’s Pub, and the Back Street Pub? Current owner Deborah Reid bought this longtime Hudson’s Bend-area restaurant/bar/music venue and determined what the high-turnover neighborhood joint really needed was a menu overhaul and an eye-catching new name for the sign up on the highway. There’s no telling how she picked the new name (ask her) but Reid’s decision to specialize in tasty grilled ribeye steaks, a traditional chicken-fried steak, and a monstrous ribeye Philly cheesesteak appears to be a good one. Slip into Chita-Rita’s after a day on the lake and enjoy karaoke on Wednesdays, live music Thursday through Saturday. Order the ribeye Philly any day but take someone along to help you eat it.
