Sandy’s Hamburger Hut

Sandy’s hearkens back to the days before golden arches and talking chihuahuas, when burgers and other fast foods were dispensed from friendly little mom & pop roadside shops. It’s a lake-area staple that does a brisk drive-through business in well-stuffed breakfast tacos and specials and is always packed at lunchtime. Burgers come both small ($2.19-$3.39) and large, ($2.59-$3.89) and are truly fine paired with homemade sides of fresh-cut fries and hand-battered onion rings. Pressed to choose a favorite meal here, we’ll admit to being partial to the small bacon cheeseburger ($3.39) and a chili cheese dog ($1.99) with a large side of O-rings ($2.69).
