China Pacific

In the three years since we published our last summertime lake guide, this secluded little Chinese joint hasn’t changed much. A quiet, takeout haven for housebound lake-dwellers, China Pacific renders the ever-present Chinese hits with freshness and care. Their sesame chicken, a standby dish in most Americanized Asian restaurants, is still tender, flavorful, and crunchy. The shrimp covered in tangy garlic sauce were sizable, individually butterflied, and cooked to the crucial stage of doneness (read: not rubbery). China Pacific is a good option if you’ve tired of burgers, barbecue, or the lakeside crowd.
