Flores Mexican Restaurant

1310 RR 620 S., 263-9546

Mon-Fri, 11am-10pm; Sat-Sun, 9am-10pm

Fans of the Flores family’s other Austin restaurants (Anderson Lane, 290 W.) will be happy here as well, considering this third outlet boasts the same delicious grilled items, affordable lunch specials, friendly service, and good margaritas. Lunch specials that offer substantial value for the money keep this cool, casual place packed at noon, and the attractive list of tasty grilled items also has a loyal following at dinner. We’re still partial to the pollo caliente, a chicken breast smothered in toothsome grilled onions and a fiery sauce of chipotle peppers. What Flores lacks in the view department (shopping center parking lot) it makes up for in the drink department (very good). The margaritas here are not made with that nasty foaming mix favored in many other lake-area watering holes. These margaritas are made with real lime juice, good tequila, and good orange liqueur. Ease into a La Florita made with Hornitos Sauza and Cointreau and you’ll see what we mean.
