La Feria is a Mexican restaurant sprawled out on the southwest corner of Lamar and Hether streets (or Mary Street if you’re coming from the east), with a covered patio on the north side. This patio is the site of south-of-the-border bacchanalia every day between 3 and 7pm, when happy hour is in full session. Every Thursday night, La Feria has Mariachi Relampago blasting away between 7 and 9pm. Breakfast is served daily, from 9am to 3pm (hey, they don’t want to wake up early on the weekends any more than you do).

The breakfast menu is limited, but covers all the requirements, with pancakes too. Migas are topped with cheese, as all migas should be, and you can get them plain ($5.45) or with sausage, chorizo, or fajitas ($6.45-
$8.45). They have machacado ($6.45), a personal favorite, which is shredded carne seca (air-dried beef) mixed with scrambled eggs; ask for some cheese on top. Huevos à la Mexicana ($5.95) are nice, especially when you get them with extra jalapeños.

Huevos rancheros (eggs any style, topped with spicy red-chile sauce) range from $5.99 to $6.99 depending on the meat, with options including meatless, carne guisada, pork chop, or barbacoa. Huevos La Feria is a bed of black beans topped with a tortilla, eggs, ranchero sauce, and a side of sausage or bacon for $6.99. Menudo, a hominy and tripe soup, is the sacred breakfast of the hangover-blessed ($4.50). A huge assortment of breakfast tacos (and pancakes) rounds out the list of choices. It’s all authentic, served in nice portions, and priced right.
