Fans of author Joanne Fluke‘s mystery series starring bakershop owner and part-time sleuth Hannah Swensen can meet the author and sample one of her recipes made with Austin’s own Tito’s Handmade Vodka tonight at BookPeople.
Just like Hannah, the protagonist in her culinary mysteries, author Joanne Fluke is a Minnesota native who now lives in Southern California. Fluke’s books always include some of Hannah’s tried and true recipes. In her newest work, the Blackberry Pie Murder (Kensington Books, $25, ppg. 357, one of the key ingredients is Austin’s own Tito’s vodka. The popular local brand makes an appearance in the recipe for Tio Tito’s Sublime Lime Bar Cookies (p. 24).When Fluke’s book tour stops at BookPeople tonight, the Sublime Lime Bars will also be in attendance, courtesy of the bakers at Princess and Moose’s Sister Bakery; a local bakery truck that can usually be found in the Native South Food Trailer Court (10106 Manchaca Rd.) Drop by for a bite, a chat with the author, and get a book signed.
