Just in time for a quick, cider-filled break from SXSW, Argus Cidery will soon be open weekends from 1-6pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Throughout the month, draft Ciderkin will be for sale at $3 a glass. At that price, you can throw a drink at your frenemy and enjoy a glass yourself for less than $10.
Speaking of SXSW, on the last day you’ll probably look like a cross between Mumm-ra and Ted Cruz. The only way to solve that is by eating a lot of pancakes. The W Austin is hosting a last call brunch from noon-2pm on Sunday, March 20 so you can power through long enough to get to Monday’s juice fast. Tickets available here.
Apis Restaurant & Apiary is transitioning to an all prix fixe format, ending á la carte service except for the bar menu in the lounge. The 20+ course taste-travaganza will still be offered, but now chef Adam Brick will be offering a three-course meal for $58. Canapé’s and mignardise will be provided, and Apis’ signature snacks such as egg toast will be available for an additional charge.
Los Angeles’ Pranom Pop-Up is back in Austin for a one-night visit to the Infinite Monkey Theorem Urban Winery tomorrow, March 1. Chef Dream Kasestatad will be serving up green curry with wok-fried white fish, veggies, or tofu between 5-9:30pm or until supplies run out.
Starting this Friday, March 4 the Mueller location of Bribery Bakery will be open nights so you can have a nightcap and a crème brûlée after a good date or grab a treat so you won’t feel as bad about spending the seventh consecutive weekend alone.
SHED Barbershop is turning two years old, which may not sound like food news, but it is when they team up with H.E.A.T. Bootcamp and Wünder Pig for a huge parking lot party featuring cocktails from The Roosevelt Room, barbecue sandwiches from Wünder, plus noms from Wholly Kabob and Quality Seafood. There will also be a DJ, photo booth, live printing, and a raffle benefitting prostate cancer charity 1400 Miles.
