Central Texas Red Cross and the City of Austin will open the Volunteer Resource Center, Friday, 8am-8pm, to recruit urgently needed volunteers. This is your call-up:

“Austin is receiving large numbers of evacuees and new volunteers may be asked to work in the evacuation centers or in other roles during the operation.

The VRC is located at the Northwest Hills Recreation Center at 2913 Northland Drive in Austin. Those wishing to volunteer are asked to visit www.centex.redcross.org to fill out a volunteer application and request a background check in order to expedite the process of volunteering. Volunteers must then report to the Resource Center for training, credentialing and scheduling. Those without computer access are encouraged to go directly to the VRC for
assistance in applying and training for volunteer opportunities.”
