Kevin Curtin settles into the hosting hot seat to dig into the perfect melding of heavy metal and, well, heavy metal.
In the first half of the program, Kevin interviews writer Michael Toland about his cover story profile of Iron Age frontman Jason Tarpey, and how Tarpey’s youthful sword & sorcery obsession inspired Hammerhall Forge, his blacksmithing business in Wimberley.
In the second half of the program, Kevin brings on Bob Ray to talk about their mutual friend Chad Holt, the “total badass” (memorialized in Ray’s 2010 documentary Total Badass) who passed away in late summer from cancer. This Saturday, AFS Cinema hosts a 20th anniversary screening of Ray’s Rock Opera, also featuring Holt, followed by a Lost Well show featuring Pocket Fishrmen, Tia Carrera, and Sex Pump.
