The 2010 Austin Chronicle Adult Spelling Bee took place last Thursday at Threadgill’s and it was a great success!

Out of over 200 registrants only 24 people made it on stage for the final oral spelling bee. It was a hard fought battle but in the end Dave Riddle came out on top by successfully spelling “myrmecophilous” and “faubourg” in succession.

There will be a full recap in this weekend’s issue of the Chronicle but until then be sure to check out Inner Views on KOOP Radio, 91.7 FM on Wednesday, May 26, from 1-1:30pm. The show’s host, Abigail Mahnke, managed to take 4th place in the spelling bee and will be discussing the evening along with Geoff Thevenot, 4-time spelling bee champion, word announcer Erica Allbright and the first- and second-place winners.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped raise money for the Austin Public Library. We look forward to making next year even better!
