Survivor Luncheon
On Friday, Nov. 3, breast cancer survivors, their families, and friends will celebrate at the third annual Survivor Luncheon. Lillie Shockney from the Johns Hopkins Breast Cancer Center will be the speaker, and the event will feature an appearance by noted Beverly Hills stylist Jose Eber. Angela Strehli, Marcia Ball, and Lou Ann Barton will reunite for a one-time-only performance, reprising songs from their hugely popular 1990 album; singer Donna Hightower will also perform. A light dinner buffet, silent auction, and breast cancer information is included in the $25 price for the concert and dance. Sunday, Nov. 5, is the third annual Race for the Cure, a series of 5K run/fitness walks benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. This, in turn, will benefit local breast cancer efforts such as Seton Hospital’s mobile mammography unit and the Breast Cancer Resource Center, which provides services to minorities.
