The founder of the Squirrel Nut Zippers is out on the lam and bringing his gang to the Continental Club this July 12th.

Have a hankering for some down-low Mississippi swamp songs? Or maybe a little suspender smackin’, toe tappin’, Appalachian moonshine music? Well how about some good ole Jazz, Blues or Country? No need to choose because Jimbo Mathus does it all.

Reminiscent of the late and great Levon Helm, James ‘Jimbo’ Mathus continues to carry the torch for American music. Jimbo has been on the road playing for all types of crowds and congregations for the majority of his life. He gained some notoriety with his old, eclectic band, the Squirrel Nut Zippers, but recently he has gone back to his roots and collaborated with Jim and Luther Dickinson as well as Alvin Youngblood Hart. Here’s a little taste of what Jimbo has been up to lately. Jimbo will bring his own brand of catfish music to the Continental Club this Friday, July 12th. He’ll take the stage around midnight, Mike Harfield and the Horton brothers will open and tickets are $10 a pop. Hoo-Wee!
