Paranoid Void, Trying Science, A.M. Feelgood, Mode Dodeca

Math rock as a genre identifier does the ladies of Osaka trio Paranoid Void disservice. Despite Meguri (g), Yu-Ki (b), and Mipow (d) titling their thoughtful, progressive 2017 full-length debut Literary Math, its airy atmospherics approach jazz in touch and feel. This is Paranoid Void’s first U.S. tour. Mode Dodeca, A.M. Feelgood, and Trying Science host.

Portrayal of Guilt, Street Sects, Substance, Mental Abortion, God Shell [inside]

Six tracks in under 10 minutes, September EP Suffering Is a Gift follows up Portrayal of Guilt’s 2018 debut LP and national breakout Let Pain Be Your Guide with like-minded excoriation. Black metal vocal burn atop metalicized post-hardcore, Matt King, James Beveridge, and Alex Stanfield scree no mercy. Substance, Mental Abortion, God Shell, and Street Sects commiserate.
