Trading agile punk for measured, electronic alternative, Sleater-Kinney’s second act hasn’t always stuck the landing. On fourth post-reunion album Little Rope, however, Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein find their footing. Rumbling like The Woods with a modern finish, the duo keeps recent experiments in synths, but brings back the angular guitar lines we’ve all missed. Brownstein sends up depression with a smirk in “Don’t Feel Right,” while Tucker, still an inimitably playful vocalist, leads “Small Finds” with both a winking sigh and an assured caterwaul. Opener Katherine Paul soundtracks her indigenous experience in indie rock project Black Belt Eagle Scout. – Carys Anderson

Mistaken contract killer/accidental sleuth/single mom Finlay Donovan returns for a fourth madcap mystery in Elle Cosimano’s bestselling series. Celebrate Tuesday’s publication with this Wednesday ticketed event; price of admission includes a hardback copy of Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, plus a conversation with Cosimano and Central Texas author Ali Hazelwood, whose paranormal romance Bride dropped in early February. – Kimberley Jones

Performers Petty Cakes, Pump King, Vivi VVitch, and Tyler the Game Master bring gaming giggles to this comedy show alongside special guests Ms. Hemmi Roidz and Rose Noir. The pop culture vultures over at Get It Games return with a two-hour quiz based on the 2008 film that kick-started a years-long sensation, and the questions write themselves: How long have you been 17? Which indie rock band sings this soundtrack song? How did Taylor Lautner get away with playing a Native American for so long? Host the Brewtorium offers a themed menu, and costumes are encouraged. You think it’s easy, being somebody’s mother? You think giving birth to another human being doesn’t put your own humanity and purpose under some fierce self-scrutiny? Milwaukee-based artist Aimée M. Everett, in her solo show at the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, uses abstraction, minimalist line-making, saturated colors, and melodic compositions to explore “the profound transformations experienced during childbirth and the subsequent journey of self-discovery into motherhood.” Word – or, more appropriately, image – to your mother. – Wayne Alan Brenner

At the start of her drag career, Divina host Tatiana Cholula told Qmmunity she’d be critiqued for not assimilating enough “American” culture into her acts. “Before I started Divina,” she said, “the scene was rich in amazing Latinx drag performers and artists, but there weren’t any spaces focused on them or they didn’t feel comfortable performing certain songs at certain spaces.” Thankfully, Tatiana did start Divina, and now every other Wednesday you’ll see Oilcan Harry’s stage taken over by the spirits of Latina legends like Gloria Estefan and Paulina Rubio – courtesy of local Latinx drag talent. – James Scott
