Devotchka rode a wave of indie rock through the Aughts atop dramatic orchestral sweeps with a heavy Eastern European flair, à la Beirut. And yet, the Denver quartet largely hibernated since 2011’s 100 Lovers, aptly deploying their sound for cinema. Last year’s intoxicating This Night Falls Forever marked a welcome return, Nick Urata’s high vocals drifting above epic, eclectic arrangements with a restrained expansiveness.
