    HC4A/Shalom Austin School Supplies Fundraiser

HC4A and Shalom Austin had set a date of April 19 for their eighth annual event raising funds for school supplies for Austin-area homeless children, which last year supported over 1,300 children. The April event is now canceled due to coronavirus, but you can still help reach the fundraising goal of $34,000 to support 1,600 students. A small donation of $25 will help support one child. On Aug. 19, volunteers plan to gather to assemble the school supplies at Dell Jewish Community Center. Donate online at HC4A.org.

    Roar (1981)

Weird Wednesday: In keeping with the cultural moment we are having thanks to Tiger King, Alamo Drafthouse re-releases Roar, a weird and wild tale of humans living alongside dozens of lions and tigers (no bears). Often called "the most dangerous movie ever made," reputedly no animals were harmed during the filming, but 70 cast and crew members were. The film will be available starting April 15, and will feature a Q&A with co-star John Marshall. Some of the proceeds will go to a fund assisting members of the filmmaking community.
