Of all the wine magazines in the English language, the most respected based on the expertise of its writers is England’s Decanter. Once per year, they gather their experts for a giant tasting where they award medals, and I mean a lot of medals, to what they consider to be the best wines in the world.

This year, nine Texas wines were selected to receive Silver and Bronze medals, which are the fourth and fifth highest level awards they offer after Best in Show, Platinum, and Gold.

The happiest winemakers in Texas today must be the folks at Hye, Texas, vineyard William Chris Wine Company, located a little over an hour west of Austin. Three of their brands, William Chris, Skeleton Key, and Uplift, took home six of the nine medals, including both of the higher level Silver Medals (see list below).

In addition to William Chris Wine Company, the Hill Country’s Lost Draw Wines took home two medals, and We the People took home one. See the full list of winners below.
