With sadness we report that columnist and nutritionist James Heffley passed away on Sunday, Nov. 26, at the age of 65. In addition to writing the “To Your Health” column, published weekly in these pages since 2001, Heffley had a Ph.D. in biochemistry and was a clinical nutrition counselor who served the Austin community for many years. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at 10:30am at the Church of Christ, 703 N. Avenue C, in Elgin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Healing Hands International, www.hhi.org.

A fuller remembrance of Heffley will be published here next week.
