November begins with an email I received asking if I’d be interested in letting all the Qmmunity listings data be scraped for a National Days calendar. This was because I wrote about National Coming Out Day, which the emailer ascribed to me “clearly keep[ing] up with national days.” Yeah, man. That’s the singular reason for my interest in National Coming Out Day. I’m just freakin’ obsessed with dreck like National Housewives Day and National Banana Pudding Lovers Month. We live in goofy times, Reader. Just too goofy.

But enough about my email. The real world exists offline, and so, too, do I try to be as disconnected from the internet’s muck as possible. Join me in tossing the electronic devil aside for our environment’s inherent physical divinity. Leave the phone in your cargo pants’ pocket – or Baggu crossbody or oversized Trader Joe’s tote or clutch that’s too small to fit anything else – and life opens up. Log off. The weather’s nice, the music’s good, and the sky – and TEXAS!!! – is bluer than ever.
