Own Hoot Night
, Wed, Feb 19, 9pm at the Hole in the Wall. The hoot will
benefit the SIMS Foundation, the group dedicated to offering low-cost
mental health care services to the Austin music community. Bigfoot Chester,
Texas Meat Purveyors, Sincola, Kathy McCarty, Wannabes, Violet Crown, Gomez,
Resonaters, and Handful turn the pot up to hot as they cook up the remains of
other locals old and new, like Standing Waves, Jitters, Glass Eye, Poison 13,
Hickoids, Reivers, Doctor’s Mob, Pocket FishRmen, Hundreth Monkey, Girls in the
Nose, Balloonatic, Stretford, Joan of Arkansas, Meg Hentges, Hormones, and

two area bowling parties. First, the Williamson County Humane Society hosts the Bowl for Pets Sake II, at the Showplace Lanes, in Austin, Sat,
Feb 22, 12:45pm to raise the necessary funds to renovate and expand shelter
facilities. Raise pledges or bring a donation of $25 for three games, a

* Austin’s largest bowling party is Bowl for Kids’ Sake, a
fundraiser for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Austin. Area business are
encouraged to form teams and enter a variety of contests including individual,
team, and company raising the most money. Highland Lanes will host the event,
Fri, Feb 21-Sun, Mar 2. Teams are asked to collect pledges of $675, the cost of
matching a child with an adult for an entire year. In related news,
