Zachary Scott Theatre takes a hard look at manipulation, drive, aggression,
and greed, with a story of ambition-gone-mad. Hmmmmm… Sounds like it could be
about the publishing industry…. Well, this special benefit performance of
Ruthless! The Musical does benefit our locally produced,
statewide gay newspaper The Texas Triangle, and premieres (tonight) Thu, Jan
16, 8pm on Zach’s Kleberg Stage, but the award-winning (“Best Off-Broadway
Musical”) satire actually skewers the behind-the-scenes tarpit that the theatre
can sometimes be. So expect the usual pushy stage moms, heartless critics, and
grating kiddie actors in this tale of one tike’s hike to the top. This Dave
Steakley production (Dreamgirls, Forever Plaid,… Heck, what hasn’t he
done??) promises cruel amounts of fun with a stellar line-up of overly
ambitious… errrrrrrrr… we mean overly talented theatre-types like
Meredith Robertson, Maddie Gatling, Barbara Chisholm, Meta Rosen, Janis
Stinson, Kristen Holmstrom, and Joe York. Now, get up on stage you li’l nippers

plenty of Food for All Seasons. CAFB, which is actually a network of

This Sun, Jan 19, Overeaters Anonymous celebrates its 37th birthday. Noparade, no balloons, no fanfare… just a quiet passing of time, commemorating
37 years of service and fellowship for overeaters around the U.S. Locally, the
group has a chapter, plus a central Texas regional coordination effort exists,
called the Heart of Texas OA Intergroup. The intergroup provides
resources to OA groups in central Texas which assist folks in recovering from
compulsive eating. The principles of OA seem to be based on the AA 12-Step
paradigm. Each month Heart of Texas OA publishes a newsletter listing not only
a full page of Austin-OA activities, but also all of the meetings of the
outlying groups, as well as other recovery resources. 327-2802.

18, 1-4pm at the UT Law School Auditorium. The afternoon program will explore

Internet as a source of income; technical aspects of doing business on the Net;
and the pitfalls of cyberspace as art forum. The half-day seminar will feature
