The next two issues after this one, Dec. 13 and 20, will, as always, be
distributed on Thursday and dated Friday, and all deadlines are normal.
For the first time since the Chronicle went weekly about eight years
ago, we will publish issues on both Christmas week and New Year’s week. Here’s
the schedule, as we know it:
Issue #17 is dated Friday, Dec. 27, 1996.
Issue #18 is dated Friday, January 3, 1997.
Editorial deadline (news, postmarks, listings, etc.) for both issues is 5pm
Thursday, Dec. 19.
Advertising deadline for both issues is 5pm Thursday, Dec. 19.
Classified deadlines will be each Monday at noon: Dec. 23 for #17, Dec. 30 for
#18.
Distribution will be on Tuesdays, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.
Office Hours will be announced next week.
Issue #19, dated Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, will be back to normal deadlines and
distribution. The Austin Film Society and the Texas Freedom Network are co-hosting a screening of Michael on
Tuesday, December 17 at the Paramount Theatre. The film – co-written and directed by Nora Ephron and starring John Travolta – will be introduced by producer Sean Daniel. These are both great organizations
deserving of your support. Tickets to this benefit are $15, and there are only
about 100 left. Call the AFS at 322-0145 for more info.
As to the item in “Naked City ” last week about Balcones Recycling and the
letter below, The Austin Chronicle uses Balcones to recycle around six
or seven tons of paper and envelopes each year that ordinarily would have ended
up in the dump (this does not include newspaper which we recycle through
another company). We are very grateful for this service.
This article appears in December 6 • 1996 and December 6 • 1996 (Cover).
