Due to a miscommunication with the office of North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson, in last week’s update on North Dakota hemp farming (“Reefer Madness,” Feb. 9), we incorrectly reported that, at press time, Drug Enforcement Administration officials had not yet responded to Johnson’s request that the agency waive individual federal registration for state-licensed hemp farmers. In fact, the DEA did respond, on Feb. 2, denying Johnson’s request. Also, a news story last week (“Health, Hype, and the HPV Vaccine“) may have left some readers with the impression that Rep. Dianne White Delisi, R-Temple, had privately lobbied the governor for an executive order on the HPV vaccine and then publicly objected to the mandate. “Every action taken by Representative Delisi since this executive order was released has been consistent with her belief that this is a matter to be resolved by the Texas Legislature,” said Delisi’s chief of staff James Cooley. The Chronicle regrets the errors.
