An article in last week’s “Naked City” regarding former Austin Clean Water Program Director Bill Moriarty incorrectly stated that an investigation found he had awarded an ACWP contract to his girlfriend, Diane Hyatt, leading to his firing. In fact, Moriarty has maintained that he had no hand in awarding the contract, and furthermore, according to the city of Austin, he was fired as ACWP head (officially by city subcontractor Earth Tech) due to the appearance of impropriety. The Chronicle regrets the error.
