The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was the last U.S. propeller-driven attack plane. It even had some air victories against North Vietnamese MiG-17 jets.

In 1884, the Earth was divided into 24 time zones at the International Meridian Conference, with Coordinated Universal Time UTC (formerly Greenwich Mean Time GMT) as the starting point. Some nations have since created fractionalized time zones. For example, India is 5½ ahead of UTC/GMT.

The world’s oldest clove tree is named Afo. It’s in Indonesia, and is believed to be at least 350-400 years old.

In August 1946, 20-year-old Norma Jean Baker signed her first film contract – it was with 20th Century-Fox – and adopted the stage name “Marilyn Monroe.”

A recent Austrian study has revealed that cockatoos prefer dipping potatoes and pasta in blueberry-flavored soy yogurt dip over eating plain potatoes and pasta. They like carrots or cauliflower without the dip, however.
