UNDER THE GAY PLACE TREE/BUSH Making lists. Checking them twice. Some Gay Placers are naughty. Some Gay Placers are nice. Which category do you fall in? And what would you like under your tree from us? Is it tacky to ask? Personally, we’d like the obligatory world peace with a side of gay marriage thrown in for good measure. Other than that, we hope all of our L, G, B, T, Q, etc. friends find peace (or a piece, if that is the wish) this holiday season. It’s tough on lots of us. Loneliness, family disownment, family dysfunction, financial woes …. Sure, those crises know no orientation barrier, but they sure don’t feel any prettier with a rainbow glow. And despite being a population that is often characterized as having the “plus” of members being “able” to choose their own families (hey, even MREs are tasty when you’re hungry), I don’t know a queer who is totally oblivious to birth-family issues during these sentimental holidaze. No wonder we focus on prezzies. So here’s my list. For now, I wish Gay Place blogger Andy Campbell a VIP package trip to P2 in New Orleans next year. For recently departed (across the state, not the other kind) blogger Ash: a fully stocked dressing room with a big star on the door and contract riders that fulfill her every dream. For new blogger Frank Rivera: a chance to meet all the nice boys with nice toys he desires. And for all of them, and to the new blog kids we are revealing over the next few weeks, the energy to post and post often. For me? Santa knows what I want. I’m pretty open to dimensions, big guy. Just have her under the tree in time for New Year’s. You know exactly where to stick that big red bow. Happiest of holidays, lovelies; your pals at the Gay Place wish you Festivus cheer and a faboo new year.
