STILL PROUD It ain’t over ’til the fat drag queen sings. June still has a few tricks up her sleeves (we’ll leave that to you, your own tricks, and your imagination). Originally, this Friday, June 19, was to be Equality Texas‘ first Pride Men’s Dance. Yes, a Pride Men’s Dance. Just like the Pride Women’s Dance at Fiesta Gardens. How equal is that? After all, why should women have all the fun? The heat! The humidity! The concrete dance floor! Oh, those jealous boys. Seven primarily gay bar dance floors notwithstanding … we wouldn’t want things to be unequal, now would we? Well, guess what? It has been canceled. There are apparently too many entertainment options for gay men in Austin. Tickets did not sell. Sorry, ET! How about just throwing another Women’s Dance instead??? Anyhoo, there’s still a lot of Prideness happening in June: the anniversary of Stonewall a-comin’ as well as some more Pride fun across the state, specifically Pride Houston next weekend and the big PrideFest wrap-up in the Alamo City on the Fourth of July. Road trip, anyone? (See Community Listings.)
