WHEW! Wow, what a month! For those of us ball-and-chained to South by Southwest, March comes in like a lion and goes out like a sweet li’l fluffy baby lamb. Finally, some days of rest for us wicked. That said, we barely can take a breath before the gay social calendar starts going cuckoo, all leading up to the first week of June (which comes in like a unicorn) for Pride. Dang. To wit: This Saturday is HRC‘s big hoopdedoo Equality Gala and afterparty. It features Thelma Houston! Yesss! (See Saturday. And see the Gay Place Blog, austinchronicle.com/gayplaceblog, for a chance at two afterparty tickets.) Now don’t get too cozy. The next few weeks promise a gay old time, as local nonprofits and queer groups roll out for spring. And while we’re thinking about Pride, your friendly neighborhood Gay Place will be interviewing for a few Pride Parade/Festival interns. It’s a commitment, so think about it before getting all excited. If you are interested, tell us what you know about float-building. E-mail us for more details!
