HELPING CLIFFORD Along with Antone’s: Home of the Blues, another of Clifford Antone‘s legacies is the Help Clifford Help Kids benefit that raises crucial funds to help out the at-risk kids at American YouthWorks. But the benefit is a perfect example of giving – Texas style. The best part was the mix of supporters – from the formidable social dragons to music celebrities to artists to folks just like you and me. Well, folks just like you, anyway. The first Cliffy Award went to Carla and Jack McDonald for their unceasing support of American YouthWorks. Along with a magnificently engraved crystal vase, the McDonalds received a year of Paul Mitchell products from auctioneer John Paul DeJoria. Jack noted that they might have preferred a year’s worth of DeJoria’s top-shelf Patron tequila. Done. No problem. E! News‘ Dave Adelson was the emcee, and after the auctions, speeches, and congratulations were over, Delbert McClinton gave a terrific show … and it is estimated that the event brought in approximately $250,000. Hell, yeah!
