There are many, many things that you can do to serve as a volunteer with AIDS
Services of Austin. The varied volunteer opportunities can easily be matched
with your special interests, skills, or areas of expertise. From data entry,
stuffing envelopes, working on the info line, or food bank to being a buddy,
helper, or freelance volunteer. All areas are equally valued and equally in
need of volunteers like you who are willing to spend just a few hours a week.
You will also meet some of Austin’s finest and coolest people!
Here are a few direct-to-client opportunities we have available:
Food Bank: Food Bank volunteers do a wide variety of tasks. Everything from
taking a client’s food order, sacking groceries, preparing and packaging food
items, making home deliveries for those too ill to come in, picking up donated
items (from the many wonderful businesses around this great city that support
us and our clients), meeting many people, and making lots of new friends.
Freelance: Freelancers assist clients with rides, hospital visits, house
cleaning, laundry, picking up prescriptions, and drive to medical or other
appointments. These are one time or short-term (less than two months)
assignments.
Helper: Helpers do many of the things Freelancers do, only on a
continuing/long-term basis for clients that require that level of volunteer
support.
Buddy: Buddies provide friendship, companionship, emotional support, and
socialization opportunities.

The next General Orientation is scheduled for January 8. We all look forward
to seeing you there!
