There is an overwhelming abundance of information available about HIV and AIDS, and much of it is easily accessed through the computer. But where do you go to get started? Here are three tools which may assist in different ways.
Across the U.S., AIDS service organizations such as ASA have (and often produce themselves) a wealth of materials. To facilitate access to them, especially around patient education, the drug manufacturer Hoffman-LaRoche has produced a free user-friendly CD-ROM called Interlink cataloging hundreds of HIV education resources. Included are materials from local and national organizations — Project Inform, AIDS Project Los Angeles, etc. To obtain a copy of Interlink, contact Roche at 973/235-5000.
A comprehensive directory of online resources, listed by topic category, is the booklet Selected Internet Links to HIV/AIDS Information, prepared by the CDC National Prevention Information Network.
