The eighth annual Austin-area World AIDS Day Interfaith Service of Remembrance and Hope will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1.This year’s service, sponsored by Interfaith Care Alliance, will be held at Tarrytown United Methodist Church, 2601 Exposition Blvd., at 7pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend and asked to bring a friend.
The service will include music, prayers, poems, reflection, and dance. It is a time to gather together to remember those wonderful people – our family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors – who have died of AIDS. It is also a service of hope – giving hope and support to those who are living with HIV/AIDS.
Interfaith Care Alliance offers practical and emotional support to folks living with HIV/AIDS and cancer. Drawing on people from all faith traditions, ICA organizes and trains Care Teams of four-to-six volunteers each to provide support – light housekeeping, rides to medical appointments, and grocery shopping, social outings, phone conversations, etc. The team approach enables many people to help, but by spreading the workload, no person is overburdened.
