What’s the latest scoop on HIV treatments? ASA will tackle that question at a free Dining With the Doctor program on Thursday, Aug. 11. Brian Palmer, M.D., will be in Austin to review what was presented at the International AIDS Society Conference held just last week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Dr. Palmer is an experienced HIV doc, so he understands the varied implications of research findings and critical treatment advances. He recently signed on as science liaison to Gilead Sciences, the maker of Viread and Emtriva (or in combination, Truvada).

The IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis and Treatment brought together more than 6,000 researchers and clinicians from around the world to address current issues in HIV research, prevention, and treatment. As its description implies, this is one of the most important clinical conferences there is.

The program with Dr. Palmer will be 6-8pm at ASA, 7215 Cameron (just north of St. Johns). A light supper will be served. The event is free, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Gilead. Seating is limited, so please let us save you a place: Call ASA’s reception desk at 458-AIDS (458-2437) or e-mail sandy.bartlett@asaustin.org.
