For HIV-infected people, the speed at which they progress in HIV disease depends to some degree on how well they take care of themselves. What do poz folks need to understand about HIV/AIDS essentials, so they can try to stay as healthy as possible for as long as possible?
On Wednesday, May 12, HIV educator Bart Loeser will present a free lunchtime class, Return to the Basics. This will be a layperson’s approach to a basic understanding of HIV disease. It’s an opportunity to learn what HIV-infected people should be doing to better maintain health, despite their virus.
Bart has been involved with HIV education and prevention since early in the AIDS epidemic, first with AIDS Foundation Houston, and more recently in Austin with Wright House Wellness Center. His talk is made possible through Community Access.
This is the fourth program in ASA’s 2004 Dining with the Doctor series, or in this case, Eating With the Educator. These talks are designed to address the questions that people with HIV ask most frequently.
The free lunch and program will begin at noon at AIDS Services of Austin, 7215 Cameron Rd., just north of St. Johns. The event is made possible by the sponsorship of pharmaceutical manufacturer Tibtech (formerly Ortho-Biotech).
