One of the popular new consumer Web sites for medical information has added a section about HIV/AIDS, especially directed to people living with disease. WebMD has launched: http://my.webmd.com through which one may gather information, share experiences with other people living with HIV/AIDS, or find out breaking news for caregivers.
WebMD was at the U.S. Conference on AIDS in Denver last month and displayed several of the conference’s key proceedings on the Net, some live and interactive and some taped. WebMD also is gaining ground in the use of message boards, of which they now have 100+. Topics might include Friends and Family, Gay Men With HIV, or Meds and Treatment.
The Internet is a wonderful tool, especially for getting information. The U.S. is lucky to have such a virtual resource, completely independent of geographical location.
