Talked on the phone yesterday with the now infamous Ms. Jenni Lee, deemed Tuesday The Worst Asian-American in the World after Kate X posted about the hurtful comments she made on Facebook. Was a short call. I dug in, “As a minority yourself, why would you marginalize a minority with such a comment?”
Quickly, I heard the words of her supervisors echoing in her head. She cut me off.
“The only comment I am allowed to make is the apology that I posted on Facebook.”
As follows: “I want to apologize for the poor wording I used to describe a contestant on the Amazing Race. I also want to apologize to those whom I have offended.”
Then, she added, “I wish I could set the record straight, Kate … but I can’t.”
Too bad.
