Lou Reed

In the midst of all this kitschy horror, a real one came in the passing of the amazing Lou Reed. In high school I stole the first two Velvet Underground albums from Best Buy. I played them to whomever would listen, and most didn’t get it. But I did. A spell was cast from the first chime of “Sunday Morning” that will never be lifted. R.I.P.

Here She Comes Now” Velvet Underground

My favorite Lou Reed piece is this simple hypnotic song.

No Tears” Tuxedomoon

Dry up those tears, because the creatures of the night are all going to laugh at you.

Crawling on Bruised Knees” Pharmakon

Play this black angel’s death song and say Pharmakon in your mirror three times. I dare you.

Youtube video

Surfin’ Dead” The Cramps

It’s a surfing safari, and you are the game. Lux want brains.

Youtube video

We Hit a Wall” Chelsea Wolfe

Hell hath no fury like a broken heart.

Dunkelheit” Burzum

Unlike Charles Manson’s fey folk music, Varg Vikernes’ Burzum project sounds exactly like what’s going on in a murderer’s mind.

Happy Halloween!
