For the past two weeks, Polari/aGLIFF and the Austin School of Film have co-hosted four groups of young queer filmmakers as part of the Queer Youth Media Project. In the free week-long workshops, queer teens wrote, shot, and edited their own short films – two of which will screen in front of aGLIFF audiences this fall.
Here’s a video we shot of the young filmmakers enjoying their session with the local mentors.
But, wait! There’s more: Next Friday, August 15, the festivities continue at Faster, Pussycat! – a dance party and film fest fundraiser to be held at the Revival Cycles warehouse on Bolm Road. Buy your tickets for 20 bucks online or $25 at the door, and you’ll get yourself a bottomless drink, access to great tunes, and a free pass to shake your booty all night. The night’s special highlight is professional ice sculptor TJ Maclaskey, who will be carving a life-size Revival Motorcycle during the event. Let the chainsaws roar!
