If you are a gay or gay-friendly person or just a person who believes in justice, and you are registered to vote, and you are thinking for one moment of NOT voting today, please do me a personal favor? Consider this:
Atlantic columnist/blogger Andrew Sullivan is a brilliant writer and political thinker. Personally, I cringe at some of his conservative beliefs. I do, however, marvel at his eloquence and his righteous ability to reason through argument and state a thoughtful case.
Andrew Sullivan is also HIV-positive. He is also barred from becoming a U.S. citizen due to this status. Which means he can’t vote.
This makes me very sad. He’s about as close to “patriot” as you can get in this hyperbolic time, and he can’t even vote.
If you have any sense of justice or fair play, and you were thinking of blowing this election off, would you please consider running out to your precinct right now before it closes and casting a vote in the place of Mr. Sullivan? Click to read his endorsement.
I know this is just another one of those hare-brained Quixote-deluded rages of mine, but really: It’s the right thing to do.
Thank you.
