Immigrants, the Musical: No Place Like Home

This is a Hamilton-inspired show in which, each week, a new monologist tells of their experience in coming from Mexico, from Russia, from Vietnam, from El Salvador, and more. Then the cast, directed by Lahari Dunn and Asaf Ronen, expands these stories into "fully improvised musicals, giving life to the emotion, the journey, and the laughs and hardships along the way." Note: The Chronicle's Robert Faires recently took in a show, and here's his reaction. Featured this final week: Marcia Sanchez from Mexico.
    Through Dec. 21. Fridays, 8pm. $10-12.

    Nathan Lund

The reigning Denver Comedy Champion leaves Colorado only to totally slay audiences at festivals across the nation or because, he's just had enough of living in a city where weed is legal. Because it makes too much sense, and everybody benefits, and life is so much better, and … he can only take that for so long, y'know? Catch Lund here at the Velv this weekend, with Sahana Srinivasan opening.
    Dec. 7-8. Fri., 9pm; Sat., 9 & 11pm. $10.

    Tim Dillon

C'mon, Rolling Stone – which is still at least as relevant as The Austin Chronicle, right? – named this Dillon "One of the Ten Comics You Need to Know." So get to know him this weekend, OK? (Like, from the audience. During his show.)
    Dec. 5-8. Wed.-Thu., 8pm; Fri.-Sat., 7:30 & 10pm. $12-23.

    Top Comedy Spot on Airport

Yes, there's Sugar Water Purple on Wednesday nights. And this Thursday features Friends For Now, a daring supergroup of improv, and then the sketch shenanigans of Pendulum. Friday brings Movie Riot and the laugh-inducing ladies of Loverboy and that Live at ColdTowne stand-up showcase hosted by Carina Magyar. Then there's Saturday, with the Dave Buckman-directed Roast of St. Nick and the love-stinks larking of Missed Connections ATX, followed by a gathering of that mysterio-hilarious Midnight Society. And Sunday's got a Stool Pigeon spieling up the laughs for you, and – see website for more.
