This year’s festival highlights male writers, with keynote addresses by columnist Leonard Pitts Jr., motivational speaker SaulPaul (Turn Your Passion Into Your Profession: Dream in 3-D), and the Rev. Sterling Lands, senior pastor of Austin’s Greater Cavalry Bible Church. Additionally, there will be activities geared toward children, including face-painting and appearances by Austin illustrator Don Tate and young adult novelist Varian Johnson.

The Austin African American Book Festival takes place Saturday, June 26, 10am-4pm at the George Washington Carver Museum & Cultural Center (1165 Angelina). The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.aabf.snappages.com.
