City Hall gets yet more artsy this week with the debut of Faces of Austin, a new multimedia program that features work by Central Texas filmmakers showcasing our city, its people, and the distinctive cultural facets that make Austin Austin. The 25 works selected for the inaugural display – which run the gamut from the Broken Spoke to BBoy City dancers and includes music from Del Castillo, Don Walser, and Alvin Crow – will run on four wide-screen video displays on the ground floor, three of which will allow viewers to choose what videos they want to watch. The program kickoff – should that be face-off? – with a reception for the filmmakers will take place Thursday, Oct. 13, 5:30-7pm, in the lobby of City Hall, 301 W. Second. But these aren’t all the faces the city wants. The Cultural Arts Division of the Economic Growth and Redevelopment Services Office, with funding support from Tokyo Electron, has put the call out for more entries.
