We’re guessing the headline is pretty self-explanatory, but just in case, we’ll spell it out: We run a short story contest every year – 19 years running, to be specific. We offer a nice-sized cash prize to the winners, as well as publication in these very pages of the first-place story and a lovely night at BookPeople wherein first- through third-place winners get to read their stories aloud to an appreciative audience. Interested? Check out austinchronicle.com/shortstory for rules and regulations. Still confused? E-mail books@austinchronicle.com with any questions.

Now get crackin’. Those stories aren’t gonna write themselves, you know.
