Bruce Springsteen has extended his current tour and just announced a stop in Austin Thu., Dec. 1. By the way, that’s a book tour, not a music tour – the Boss is pushing his new memoir, Born to Run – but look at it this way: You won’t hear him play at this BookPeople event, but you’ll get closer to him than you would at a concert.
Springsteen’s Austin appearance – which is billed strictly as a meet-and-greet, so don’t expect another SXSW keynote or even a reading before he glad-hands with fans – follows the guidelines of similar such superstar events hosted by BookPeople: The event is free, but to attend you must purchase an advance ticket that corresponds to the cost of one copy of the book (in this case, $32.50, plus service fee and tax). The ticket gets you a wristband and a pre-signed copy of the book. No signing of any kind will take place (so leave those old tour ticket stubs and albums at home), but Bruce will pose for a photo with you – that’s one photo, y’all – taken by a BookPeople staffer. Oh yeah, you’ll need a photo ID to pick up your wristband and book, and tickets are non-transferable.
Obviously, the number of tickets are seriously limited, so you need to know that they go on sale at 11am TODAY, Tuesday, Nov. 22. So hit that BookPeople website soon if you want to go.
