Although Craigslist isn’t exactly the kind of reading material you’d expect from the super-literate gang at BookPeople, it’s a good thing they were looking: They stumbled on a Missed Connection forged in the line to buy Simon Pegg‘s memoir.
The book in question is Nerd Do Well, in which the co-creator and co-star of the bloody spectacular Spaced and Shaun of the Dead writes candidly and cogently about geek culture, sci-fi, his career, and so much more. In this week’s interview with the Chron’s Marc Savlov, Pegg talked about term paper he once wrote on “Base and Supersucker: A Marxist Overview of Consent in Star Wars and Related Works” and yes, our heart just skipped a beat.
Speaking of hearts skipping a beat, BookPeople’s is about to blow a gasket. They host Pegg in-store next Wednesday, and they’ve been adorably geeking out about it on their blog for days now. It’s catching: While waiting in line to buy Pegg’s book, BP’s blog relates, a customer started making eyes at a pretty lady. Quoth his Missed Connection: “I got my book, but I didnt get her name.”
Pegg will be at BookPeople on Wednesday, June 15, 7pm. Show up early. And geek out to your heart’s content. You’ll be in good company.
