There are creative opportunities and there are creative opportunities. This is one of the better ones, we’re thinking.
Because we’ve heard good things. Because we’ve seen, and been highly impressed by, what the folks in charge of Atelier 3-D can do with three-dimensional material.
So when we learn that Stephen Dubov and his fellow artisans are offering a new schedule of classes in figurative sculpting and mold-making and bronze-casting and so on, we pass the word along to you.
Because it’s not always about manipulating pixels on yet another goddam screen, is it?
Because sometimes you want that hands-on, down-and-dirty, working-with-actual-matter experience – especially when it can result in objects (maybe beautiful, maybe unsettling, maybe both) that are transmediated from nothing but your own imagination and its take on the world around you.
Also, listen: This studio (excuse us, this atelier) is located on Tillery Street on the Eastside. Which is just a couple blocks away from Big Medium’s Canopy. And so it offers a perfect excuse for you to, maybe before or after a class, stop and check out what’s happening there, too – at Big Medium’s own gallery. Or Modern Rocks. Or Bone Black Studio. Or Co-Lab‘s pop-up project. And so on like that.
Or, at the very least, grab a bite of tasty noms and damned good coffee at Sa-Ten in that epicenter of creative industry.
